Day 6 – Grand Canyon North Rim

Dan and I had both been to the south rim of the Grand Canyon, my mom took me and the boys about 20 years ago, and Dan visited about 30 years ago. Although it was beautiful, it was super scary for me, too many people too close to the edge. I had read that the north rim looks a lot different and there are a lot less people, 1 million per year compared to 5 million. We looked around the lodge and cabins, then drove the road by the rim and stopped at every lookout. The road wasn’t bad at all, we were surrounded by trees most of the time. I think a stay in one of lodges may be in our future.

I had been complaining that we hadn’t seen any wildlife on the trip so far, and wouldn’t you know it a herd of bison crossed the road as we were leaving the park. About half stopped in the middle of the road and looked at the cars waiting for about 10 minutes. It seemed like they were waiting for the rest of the herd that included 4 or 5 calves.
