We didn’t have any firm plans for today, Bryce Canyon, Cedar Breaks, and Zion were all possibilities. We decided to go places we hadn’t been, so that ruled out Bryce and Zion. I read about Johnson Canyon and it sounded pretty cool, so we headed that way first. It was a beautiful drive, but the road was pretty rough. It ended on a road fairly close to Cedar Breaks National Monument, so that’s where we headed next. Cedar Breaks was another beautiful stop and the weather was perfect, around 70 degrees and sunny. It was quiet and peaceful, not many people
On the way there we saw what looked like huge clods of dirt, like someone had gone in with a bulldozer and dug up part of the forest. We found out it was actually lava flow from volcano vents 1000 to 2000 years old. We stopped to take a few photos, and drove down a dirt road that was marked lava flow. I managed to hit a rock that took a splash guard off the bottom of the car. It’s a pretty big part but it does fit in the back seat. Dan plans to have Matt help him fix it when we get to Roy. Overall it was another fun day seeing new things.
