After the Vanderbilt Mansion, we drove to Sleepy Hollow to tour Kykuit, the mansion John D. Rockefeller built for his family. The tour was 3 hours, and our tour guide, Mirla, was amazing. She was impressed Dan and I had been to the Rockefeller preserve in the Grand Tetons…..thanks Susanna and Greg! We weren’t allowed to take photos in the house, but I took a lot outside on the grounds. Our tour mates (is that a word?) were a little annoying….we had a couple who wouldn’t stop talking to each other, then complained that they couldn’t hear her.
Mirla said we have to come back in the middle of October (not if, when, not early or late October, but in the middle) and take the Landmark tour. We have to go back because we didn’t get to tour the cemetery or buy sweatpants in the gift shop. We’re planning a trip in October to New York and will take the train to Sleepy Hollow. I hope Mirla is our guide again, maybe we can request her.
