Our plan was to go to Maroon Bells, where we had been on our first adventure in 2015. In 2015, we drove right to it, and there weren’t many people there at all. This year we found out you have to have a reservation, pay for parking, and ride a shuttle. We decided it wasn’t that important to us, so we headed home. While I love having a GPS on my phone, we’ve learned it often takes us on a path we probably wouldn’t have taken if we were looking at an atlas. Yep, it happened…the phone sent us up the side of another mountain, this time it was on highway 82 in Colorado. This was the worst one of the trip, maybe because we had done it so many times before! The views at the top were absolutely amazing, but I’m not sure it was worth it. This was the last adventure and we stopped in Ogallala before finishing up our trip on Wednesday.
